Care is specialist, hospital-based and often lifelong, and it depends on reliable access to a small number of specific therapies. Why it matters
Many haematological conditions are lifelong. Whether a therapy is registered in a patient's country is, for that patient, the difference between treatment and no treatment.

Intensive and emergency care runs on medicines that have to be available, in the right form, at the moment they are needed. In critical care the availability of a therapy is measured in hours. Access has to be built in advance, which is precisely the work of registration.
